You have what it takes to conquer our Mount Kinabalu at 4,095 m?. Re opens 1st December 2015 with a new route called ‘Ranau Trail’ to the summit, our Mount Kinabalu ranked 20th in the world among the tallest Mountains.

The Mount Kinabalu dominates the landscape and legends of the Kadazandusun people. The elegant majestic mountain offer climbers hiking along the mountain trails and surrounded with abundant  flora and fauna. No climbing experience is required to conquer the peak of Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo. 

Day 1 –  ( Packed Lunch and Dinner)

  • 7.30 am – Early transfer from city to Kinabalu Park. Journey will take approximately an hour 30minutes to reach Kinabalu Park.
  • 9.00 am – Upon arrival and registration for climbing permit while enjoying the cool breeze at the National Park.
  • 9.15 am – After registration, meet with your appointed mountain guide & transfer to Timpohon Gate starting point of climbing.
  • 9.30 am – Start climbing and reach at Mountain hut by late afternoon.
  • 4.30 pm to 8.00 pm – The restaurant at Laban Resthouse open for dinner. (The restaurant will close after 8.00 pm)
  • 8.00 pm – Lights out and get some rest for the next day of climbing.

Note:

  • Estimate for fit climber takes 3 – 4 hours to reach laban rata.
  • Estimate none fit climber takes 5 – 8 hours to reach laban rata.

Day 2 – ( Breakfast  )

  • 1.30 am – Wake up to continue journey and make sure you bring along all the thing required for the climb especially headlamp, drinking water and warm jacket.
  • 1.50 am – Go to Laban Rata restaurant to have your supper breakfast and not recommended heavy meal.
  • 2.30 am – Start climbing to the summit which is 8 km away from the Laban Rata. Journey will take 2.5 – 3 hours to reach summit. (depends fitness)
  • 5.30 am – Reach summit at 4,095 meters and experience the breathtaking view of the sunrise and beautiful view of the mountain.
  • 6.30 am – Descend back to Laban Rata for breakfast before trekking down to Kinabalu Park.
  • 10.00 am – Packed up your gears and bag, have breakfast, start descend down to Timpohon gate.
  • 2.00 pm to 2.30 pm – Reach Kinabalu Park. Collect certificate and lunch at Balsam Cafe.
  • 3.30 pm – Depart from kinabalu park.
  • 5.00 pm – Reach Kota Kinabalu & transfer to your hotel.

Important Information !

  • Applicable RM 10.00 per person for Tourism Room Tax (pay upon check in)
  • We do not recommend climbers to rush to the airport on the same day of descent from Mount Kinabalu due to health reason, possible high chance that you might miss your flight due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Recommended that all climbers should have themselves medically checked before attempting any mountain climb activity.
  • Mount Kinabalu Climb activities can be dangerous if you are careless. Climbers must always abide mountain rules and be careful in every step you take.
  • Not recommended for those who have history of suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes, Palpitation, Arthritis, Heart Disease, Severe Anemia, Peptic Ulcers, Epileptic Fits, Obesity, Chronic Asthma, Muscular cramps, Hepatitis (jaundice); or any other disease which may hamper the climb

  • Rental available at Laban Rata for Gloves and Warm Jackets (RM 20.00 and above)

  • Wet season period occurs from October to February and dry season from March to September, nowadays with the global warming, weather is hard to predict.. ‘Have a positive attitude and enjoy the climbing Mount Kinabalu experience’
  • Porters are available to help your bags delivered from Timpohon Gate (starting point) to Laban Rata which cost RM 13.00 per 1 kg
  • On day 2 – climbers descend from Laban Rata to arrival Timpohon gate cut off time is 4.30 pm (those climbers arrive later than 4.30 pm, climbers require to arrange own transfer back (by taxi or Grab) with our transportation additional charges MYR 50 per hour per person. There will be a scenario some climbers arrive late from the Timpohon gate which our van require to wait but with cut off time limit)
  • Fast climbers descend at Timpohon gate require to wait those late arrival climbers at latest time 4.30 pm (meaning: our transportation will not depart until all climbers arrive at cut off time mentioned)

Sabah offer challenge to climb the 5th highest Moutnain in South East Asia, The Mount Kinabalu, rising majestically into the sky at 4,094 metres with its granite massif dominating the surrounding  landscape at the peal, often shrouded in mists and clouds. Kadazandusun people named it ‘Aki Nabalu’ or ‘home of the spirit of the dead’


Itinerary:

Day 1 – Packed Lunch and Dinner

  • Pick up from Kota Kinabalu city area and proceed to Kinabalu Park HQ
  • Free and easy for a guided walk along the nature trails with the park naturalist
  • Free & Easy & have a good rest for big day of climbing on the next day.

Day 2 – Breakfast – Lunch and Dinner

  • 7.00 am – Early breakfast and climbers require to check and bring all the equipments for the climb. Not recommended to have heavy meal
  • 8.00 am – Meet with your appointed Mountain Guide and transfer to Timpohon Gate the starting point of climbing.
  • 8.30 am – Start climbing and reach at Mountain hut by late afternoon. Overnight at Mountain hut.
  • 5.00 pm – 8.00 pm – Climbers expected to arrive restaurant at Laban Rata Resthouse for dinner and check point
  • 8.00 pm – The Laban rata reshouse lights will switch off. Rest and prepare for the next day of climbing.

Day 3 – Breakfast

  • 1.30 am – Climbers wake up to continue journey to the Mount Kinabalu summit. (Make sure to bring needed equipment for the climb especially headlamp, drinking water and warm jacket & glove)
  • 1.50 am – Go to Laban Rata restaurant to have your Supper Breakfast. Not recommended to have a heavy meal
  • 2.30 am – Start the climbing to the summit which is 8 km away from the Laban Rata Mountain Hut
  • 5.30 am – Reach Summit at 4,095.2 M – 8.7 km and experience the breathtaking view of the Sunrise and beautiful view of the mountain.
  • 6.30 am – Descend back to Laban Rata for breakfast
  • 10.00 am – After packed up your thing and breakfast done,  climbers start descend down to Kinabalu Park.
  • 2.30 pm – Reach Kinabalu Park. Take you certificate and lunch at Balsam Cafe.
  • 3.30 pm – Depart from Kinabalu park & transfer to Kinabalu Kinabalu city

Another way of conquer Mount Kinabalu with via Ferrata which means routes that are secured by handrails, ladders, cables or lifelines. Starts at Mount Kinabalu Panar Laban Rock Face (approximately 3,300 meters) and reaches its highest point at 3,800 meters.

With special climbing equipments and experienced local mountain guide to ensure safety during the expedition of the via Ferrata

Day 1 – 5.00 am pick up from Kota Kinabalu and depart for Kinabalu Park, where you arrive around 7.00 am for registration and transfer to Timpohon Gate, the starting point of the climb. Trek about 5 – 6 hours to Panar Laban (depends largely on individual climbers group). The summit trails will leads you through lower montane, upper montane, sub alpine and alpine forest. Take your packed lunch provided along the way and enjoy the refreshing mountain cool air while eating. At 3.00 pm and arrive at Laban Rata check point and check into Pendant Hut accommodation and meet your Mountain Torq trainer at 3.30 pm, follows your trainer for a familiarization of the via Ferrata. 6.00 pm, dinner at Laban Rata Restaurant.

Day 2 – Wake up early at 1.30 am to continue climbing to the summit. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the sunrise at the summit of Mt. Kinabalu. Descend back to the Low’s Peak at 5.45 am. Meet with you Mountain Torq trainer at Sayat – Sayat Hut for Walk the Torq – Asia 1st via Ferrata. 9.00 am, arrive at Pendant Hut for breakfast prepared at Laban Rata 11.00 am, trek down to Timpohon Gate. Then lunch at Kinabalu Park before transfer back to Kota Kinabalu.

The Laban Rata Resthouse is where tourists who climb Mount Kinabalu will stop for an overnight stay. Nestled in Kinabalu Park, Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site, the resthouse is equipped with common bathrooms, has heated showers, heated rooms and a restaurant. It is the final pit stop before heading towards the peak of Mount Kinabalu.

Staying at Laban Rata is meant to revitalize climbers. Located approximately 3,000 metres above sea level, it is set up in a way that ensures that climbers are able to recharge themselves before continuing on with another three hours of climb to make it to the summit.
